While returning to the main plane, my mind wandered to random thoughts like whether the rebellion had been carried out. Or did the prophecy of the snake take place?
Come to think of it, what was the prophecy about? I can vaguely remember it was supposed to be about someone, but what was it exactly?
This is odd; why can't I remember it? Have I become that lazy? No, that's not possible. Besides, my intuition is screaming to me that there is more to it.
Was it from the time I left the plane? I did have a vague impression of losing something.
As I occupied myself with the inconsistencies in my memory, I sensed several strong life forces following behind me. What surprised me most was that they were mortals.
To think that mortals can use space tunnels in a mere 2,000 years—they must have developed well.
Their destination must be the same as mine—
"?!"
Or maybe not. I was surprised when I saw one of them throwing a large sword of pure light at me.
Interesting! Are these mortals picking a fight with me?! In my entire life, I have never seen a mortal picking a fight with a Primordial.
Of course, I didn't put any effort into dodging the attack. Why should I?
The distance between me and the sword shortened with terrifying speed and directly pierced me—or was supposed to.
Upon making contact with my body, the energy sword directly dispersed.
I expected as much; there’s no way an attack made by mortals who barely live for half a millennia could reach an existence like the Deities, Demons, or Primordials.
Since they started it, I should give them a present too.
I compressed origin energy in my mouth to the extreme and directly shot it at them. It was the very first technique I created after my reincarnation as a primordial—a simple yet effective method that even an unintelligent animal can use.
The blast, which was shot with amazing speed, targeted the three idiots. Just before the impact, one of the mortals created a sword out of mana and directly sliced my blast.
Did the mortal just cut my energy blast with mana?
Hmm, no wonder they were cocky. I observed the sliced blast as it sent a shockwave throughout the tunnel.
"Hoho... this is getting interesting."
To begin with, cutting something like an energy blast, which is an unstable form of energy, should result in an immediate explosion similar to one produced on impact.
On top of that, cutting an energy blast made of pure origin energy is not something mana can do.
Mana, unlike other energies like origin energy, divine energy, and demonic energy, is at the bottom of the power ladder. Only mana refined and purified beyond measure can rival them in power.
But as far as I can sense, the mana materialized by the mortal was not strong enough to be on the level of the ultra-refined mana heard of in fables.
As I immersed myself in the possibilities, the three mortals surrounded me.
I did nothing, as they weren't much of a threat, even if they were able to neutralize my energy blast.
"We hit a big jackpot today, didn't we?" one of the three mortals, a female, spoke.
'Oh! So the space channel does contain air.' I thought as I saw them speak in the space channel.
Hmm... Now that I have a closer look at them, most of them have human-like features except for the blue skin and completely pitch-black eyes.
I never interacted much with any mortal after my reincarnation in this universe eons ago. To begin with, there were no mortals in the material plane during the birth of the Primordials.
"Puny Mortals, are you courting death?"
Ohh... I always wanted to say that line. I sound like one of those arrogant villains in Xianxia novels that I read long ago.
But to my surprise, I didn't see any respect or fear from them.
"Tough talk from a lizard of the now fallen, pitiful race." the one who attacked me before with the energy sword said with an arrogant tone.
Ohh! They can see my true form. That's surprising. Usually, mortals could only perceive me as a hazy black mist with blue eyes.
"But fallen, huh? This is interesting..."
"So why did you attack me, Mortals? Oh, let me guess..."
"....."
"Hmmm... a death wish, right?" I said as I looked at them with a knowing expression, nodding.
"...."
"Don't worry, I will squash you like the bugs you are."
"Oh... Look at this one, Szyleei, this one is a funny one." the last of the three mortals who hadn't spoken until now turned his head and spoke to the female.
"That was not meant to be a joke, Mortal." I said as I looked at the idiot.
"For a primordial of your size, you do have an attitude, don't you? But sorry to burst your bubble, the one who is going to die is you. Don't worry, though, we will make good use of your body—it does sell for a lot."
The mortal holding the energy sword directly closed the distance between us and slashed.
"What!!!"
The swordsman’s face slowly turned into horror as he saw his sword floating inches in front of my scales. He tried exerting a much stronger force, but it didn't move an inch forward from there.
"Are you done?" I asked as I directly caught the swordsman in front with my right claw when he tried to put distance between us.
"Help me!!" The swordsman started panicking as he found out he was not able to get out of my grip.
"Put him down, monster."
"And splat." I said in a playful tone as I squeezed the swordsman in my claw.
SPLAT
"...."
"Now who is next?"
I looked at the other two as they stared at me in horror, with their friend squashed into a puddle of blood and flesh in my claws.
